About the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity

The Sigma Pi Phi fraternity is best known as the Boulé, a Greek term meaning "council of noblemen."

Founded in 1904, Sigma Pi Phi is the oldest Greek-letter organization composed primarily of African-American men. The Boulé has more than 5,000 members and 119 member boulés throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Its membership consists of some of the most accomplished, affluent, and influential men — leaders who are making lasting contributions to their communities, our society, and the world.

Mu Boulé was charted in November 1949. It is the boulé that covers Northern and Central New Jersey. Mu's current and past members have created achievements in fields as varied as the clergy, medicine, academia, jurisprudence, commerce, politics, and social thought. In addition to their professional endeavors, Mu Boulé has always expected and required its members to be active in their communities and to devote a meaningful portion of their skills to improving society.
